Radisson Blu Glasgow

Introduction:

Embarking on my second visit to Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow, I encountered a range of experiences that left a lasting impression. In this review, I will discuss the room, hotel amenities, and location, shedding light on both positive and negative aspects of my stay.

The Room – 6/10

The Room Upon arrival, I was greeted by the same warm and friendly staff I had encountered on previous visits to Glasgow. The reception area exuded cleanliness and sophistication, setting the stage for a pleasant stay. As I arrived early, my room was not yet ready, but I found solace in Grahamsons Bar, where I settled down to catch up on work. While there, my hunger prompted me to order the Korean chicken, which, although beautifully cooked, proved to be overwhelming due to the excessive sriracha chili flavor – I like things hot, but not quite that hot!

Around 3pm, the receptionist approached me to notify that my room was now prepared. Ascending to my upgraded room, I was immediately struck by its exceptional quality. Evidently brand new, the room boasted ample space and thoughtful design elements. Notably, a fantastic mirror and a fully renovated bathroom added a touch of luxury. Despite its functional aspects, I noticed a design flaw within the bathroom: the lack of a sufficiently sized shelf in the shower area to accommodate toiletries. However, what marred the experience was the ongoing refurbishments, which resulted in disruptive drilling noises throughout the workday.

That being said, the room was comfortable overall and i was touched by the welcome hamper of Scottish treats such as Irn-Bru, though I struggle to understand how a Banana is considered Scottish?!

Hotel Amenities – 8/10

Radisson Blu Hotel Glasgow provided an array of amenities befitting its reputation. The room encompassed all the expected features of a high-caliber hotel, including a safe (albeit non-functional – another issue with the room), an excellent television, and an exceptionally comfortable bed. Unfortunatley, the air conditioning proved to be a disappointment; despite the relatively mild early May weather, I awoke to a room temperature of 26 degrees Celsius, despite me setting it to 20c, as the cooling system failed to effectively regulate the climate.

Location – 10/10

Conveniently situated, Radisson Blu Hotel Glasgow boasted a prime location within the city. Its proximity to key attractions and amenities made exploring the area a breeze. If you are interested in exploring, this is a much better location than the Hilton Glasgow. Moreover, the hotel’s bar provided a charming ambiance for relaxation, and breakfast offered a satisfying start to the day, although it fell slightly short of the culinary excellence showcased by its counterpart at the Hilton Glasgow.

Value for Money – 9/10

Value for money is always subjective, do I think the £190 I paid for 1 night reasonable? For it’s location, yes. For the quality of the room, if everything was working, yes.

Conclusion – 33/40

My stay at Radisson Blu Hotel Glasgow was marked by a combination of positives and negatives. While the warm and welcoming staff, stylish room with upgraded features, and strategic location were commendable, design flaws, ongoing refurbishments, and an underperforming air conditioning system detracted from the overall experience. Despite its strengths, the hotel failed to consistently meet the standards set by other establishments in the area.
